The Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust is supported by a wonderful team of Trustees who offer their expert knowledge on all topics from conserving our wonderful built assets, to finance, marketing, tourism and business management.
All charities have a board of trustees and this week we have been delighted to welcome Alison Breton from the Dean Heritage Centre to Buxton. Our Chief Executive Officer and Head of Volunteering have been attending a National Lottery Heritage Funded ‘Steps to Sustainability’ Course run by the Social Enterprise Academy. With their support reciprocal visits are able to take place between Buxton and the Forest of Dean, and Chair of Trustees Alison enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Buxton Crescent Experience and Pump Room.
Since joining the board in April 2017, Alison was quickly promoted to Chair offering her excellent knowledge as a businesswoman in the leisure industry. Alison has managed golf clubs with a variety of revenue streams (course, driving range, food and beverage, venue) and came to the Heritage Centre with the simple aim of helping the organisation generate more income than expenditure. Alison has helped the museum become more resilient – something which has been extremely important during the challenges of the last couple of years – by revamping the membership package and supporting the centre manager in improving the public offering.
Meanwhile for the Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, David Lowther has been busy working with the management team on compiling the Trusts’ accounts for the last financial year. With several income streams to manage it is no easy task and we thank David enormously for his work. Liz Page has been busy as part of the business planning and fundraising working groups ensuring that we move forward into 2023 with a clear plan of how to grow our activities.
Currently it is National Trustees Week and all over the country the hard work of Trustees is being celebrated. So we thank all of our Trustees for every minute of their valuable time.
