Buxton Community Orchard Wassail 2027
Saturday 30 January 2027
Join us for the first Buxton Community Orchard Wassail, a joyful midwinter celebration of the town’s community orchard and the promise of the growing season ahead. Organised by Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, Transition Buxton and Stone and Water, the event will bring together local residents, volunteers, musicians and families to celebrate Buxton’s fruit trees, local food growing and community spirit.
The afternoon will begin with a community procession to Cote Heath Rec, featuring orchard flags, lanterns, music and singing. Once at the orchard, we’ll gather around the trees for a traditional wassail blessing, communal songs, music and performance, and plenty of opportunities to make some noise and wish the orchard a fruitful year ahead.
The event will also feature hot drinks, information about Buxton’s Community Orchard, and activities celebrating local food, growing and sustainability.
Whether you’re an orchard volunteer, an enthusiastic gardener, or simply curious about this centuries-old tradition, we’d love you to join us for Buxton’s first community wassail.
More details and timings will be announced soon.
