Once Upon a Toy Shop: Christmas in Victorian Buxton
Step into a Victorian Christmas of toys, wonder and imagination.
Travel back to Christmas 1866 and visit the world of Francisco Anzani, the real-life Italian toy maker whose famous Rocking Horse Bazaar brought delight to visitors young and old. Discover how Christmas was celebrated in a town on the brink of change, where handcrafted toys, festive traditions and exciting new arrivals helped create the magic of the season.
Join us for a family-friendly Christmas experience filled with storytelling, crafts and hands-on activities inspired by Victorian Buxton. Create your own dancing horse, explore traditional Victorian toys, dress up as a Victorian visitor and discover the sights, sounds and scents of Christmas past.
Along the way you’ll uncover stories of travel, music, toy-making and Christmas memories as you help bring Francisco’s remarkable toy shop to life.
