Through an internation collaboration with Culture Syndicates, Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust are privileged to be hosting a 3-day exhibition and calligraphy experience, showcasing the work of Dr Li Kangying, historian of Chinese cultural history. His academic works on Chinese history of 14th – 16th century are university textbooks and on the reading list for most of the university postgraduates of Chinese history worldwide

DR Li is an avant-garde calligrapher combining the ancient inscription on tortoise shell and bronze of the Shang Dynasty (BC1600-1046), the earliest form of Chinese character, and some approaches of the modern European arts.  His revolutionary calligraphy has given rise to a new phenomenon in artwork market in China and fetched the price of 20000(RMB) per square foot on Artron. Net. (Artworks Auction)

The calligraphy experience will offer you a unique cultural encounter with a universal theme: the healing of mind. We invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of calligraphy writing, walk the path through Dr Li’s impressive artwork, experience atmospheric music and interact with calligraphy materials making your own miniature representations of Dr Li’s work to take home.

Entry is FREE across the 3-day exhibition.
