Sketch at Scrivener’s – Sketch a spooky Winter’s Tale about the bookshop ghost.
Scrivener’s is a five-storey treasure trove for book lovers, known for its labyrinthine layout, cosy reading nooks, and eclectic stock of second-hand and antiquarian books. Housed in a Victorian building that once served as a printer’s and stationer’s, the shop retains its original features, including a working book press and a charming children’s room, making it one of the most atmospheric bookshops in the region. It’s also famously home to a resident ghost, whose mysterious presence has inspired local lore and literary imagination.
As part of the Through the Shop Window programme, Scrivener’s presents “Sketch at Scrivener’s”, a creative, bookish experience where participants are invited to sketch a spooky Winter’s Tale about the bookshop ghost. This imaginative session blends storytelling with visual art, encouraging visitors to explore the shop’s haunting charm through pencil and paper.
