Poxes, potions and the apothecary
Workshop Overview
The Apothecary is hovering around Buxton Crescent, looking for a pitiable patient in need of assistance. Armed with a bag of tricks, trinkets and tinctures, pills poultices and potions they will mix you a medicine to cure your every illness. Set up a rivalry with the Apothecary and measure, mix, craft and create your own cures for visitors whether suffering from ghastly gout, rotten rheumatism or your own made up malaise. In this workshop you will learn about the history of Buxton medicine through a fun and challenging encounter with a tricky Victorian character.

Why not make a full day of your visit to Buxton by combining up to 3 different workshops visiting multiple venues to suit your requirements and learning outcomes.
Drop off at the old Thermal Baths, welcome and safety briefing
Encounter the local Buxton Surgeon Apothecary and go in to competition with them to cure visiting tourists of their illnesses.
Meet Mary the Buxton Well Woman and sample the famous Buxton waters
Travel via coach (or on foot if you’re not too hungry!) to Poole’s Cavern and Country Park to take lunch and prepare for the afternoon’s excitement!
