Fragile History

A walking tour of Derby’s Porcelain Factory

A one-off chance to look around the Royal Crown Derby Factory site and learn about its history. Led by Local Historian Richard Felix and Museum Director Elizabeth Woledge we explore this historic site and share stories from the past. Before the site was bought in 1875 to be transformed into a porcelain factory, it had been the Derby Workhouse, but with more inmates than they could cope with. The workhouse funded its move to bigger premises by selling the site to Mr Phillips.
