Fashion of the Festivals

The Fashion of the Festivals
Guests are invited to step back in time for an elegant celebration of twentieth-century fashion at The Fashion of the Festivals
The afternoon will explore the evolution of fashion across the twentieth century, charting changing trends, cultural influences and iconic silhouettes from 1900 through to 2000.

From Edwardian elegance and roaring twenties glamour to wartime utility, post-war couture, swinging sixties style, disco decadence and late-century couture, the presentation will showcase a remarkable century of design and self-expression.

Renowned vintage fashion collector Notty Hornblower, of the Hope House Costume Museum, will present a carefully curated selection from her exceptional historic clothing collection. The showcase will feature original garments and accessories representing the defining fashions of each era, illustrating how style evolved alongside social change, music, art and popular culture throughout the twentieth century.

Models will present authentic period pieces as they move through the audience, offering guests a rare opportunity to view these remarkable garments up close. Highlights are expected to include intricate Edwardian detailing, elegant 1930s evening wear, sharp wartime tailoring, bold 1960s prints, glamorous 1970s silhouettes and striking late-century fashion statements.

Accompanied by a specially curated soundtrack spanning the decades and enriched by Notty Hornblower’s expert commentary and personal insights, The fashion of the festivals promises to be a memorable and engaging celebration of fashion history, craftsmanship and timeless design.
