There’s something for all the family in the nine very different, interactive rooms of the Buxton Crescent Experience. Take a virtual hot air balloon ride over the Peak District, discover what makes Buxton Water so special, build a Georgian house and dress up in historical hats

Spooky Story Trail

A short trail, ideal children (5+), exploring the characters in  Derbyshire Ghost Stories. Ask your Crescent Experience Host for a copy of the trail.

Baskets of toys and books

Picture books and wooden toys are in the Crescent Experience for children of all ages to enjoy.

The Crescent Experience is inside Buxton's stunning Crescent

Everyday: Premium Tours are approximately 90 minutes long and start at 10.30am and 11am. General Admission visits allow you to explore the Crescent Experience at your own pace. Visits start from 1pm, last entry is at 3pm.

Children aged 7 and under go free to the Crescent Experience. General Admission tickets for adults are £10.90 and for children aged 8 and above; £7.25. Family tickets for the Crescent Experience (2 adults and up to 3 children) are available for General Admission visits (£30) and Premium Tours (£40).


If you are visiting the Crescent Experience, there are toilets available for use - please ask a member of staff for assistance (we'll be wearing badges, and quite possibly dressed up as Georgians!)


The Crescent Experience is accessible by wheelchair and buggies.

Suitable for

EVERYONE! Our Experience hosts are skilled at supporting visitors of all ages to make the most out of their visit to the Crescent Experience. There are lots of interactive elements to the Experience. Children under 7 are advised not to use the Virtual Reality Head sets but they can enjoy the balloon tour on a television screen.The Play and Book Baskets are ideal for younger children. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times by an adult.
