Learning in Buxton

Buxton has a long and fascinating history – from prehistoric cave dwellers to Victorian hydrotherapists; Roman invaders to hardworking Limeburners. The Buxton Crescent and Pump Room is at the very centre of the town’s story, and ideally placed to bring learning to life for people of all ages. Thanks to the National Heritage Lottery Fund Resilient Heritage initiative, Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust has partnered with Buxton Museum and Art Gallery and Poole’s Cavern to develop a fantastic all-round Buxton learning experience. Starting this year we will be offering a range of learning packages for schools where, with one booking, you can explore the history of the town in a range of varied settings. We are developing a brand-new programme of innovative, immersive and hands-on learning experiences incorporating local history, historical characters, drama, science, storytelling and cross-curricular learning. Find out more by browsing our learning pages, where you can find details of visits and workshops we will be offering soon. If you have any questions, or would like to enquire about learning with us, please get in touch with our learning manager and we'll be happy to help.
