Are you passionate about sharing heritage in engaging, exciting and inspiring ways?  Would you be as comfortable leading a group tour of adult historians as making yourself look a bit silly dressed in costume or leading a puppet show for toddlers?

As a Buxton Learning Practitioner you will be ready to welcome the public to a world of exploration and discovery.  You’ll demonstrate passion for learning by leading workshops, tours, performances and hands-on activities incorporating history, geography, geology, STEAM and drama.

Working within a small team you will collaborate to prepare and deliver a range of innovative and authentic learning activities which actively involve children, young people and lifelong learners.  It’s a challenging and rewarding role where you’ll often be taken out of your comfort zone, turning your hand to a range of exciting situations.

You may be a specialist in history, education, archaeology, the arts or performance, but just as important is being friendly, outgoing, with a good sense of fun, and excellent presentation and communication skills.

You’ll have a commitment to maintaining the health and safety, safeguarding and accessibility of your sessions, to ensure a positive, safe and inclusive experience for all.

Buxton Learning Practitioners will be employed by The Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust on a Freelance basis with the rate of pay set at £17 per hour for public-facing work, and £9.00 per hour for training, meetings and development time.

We anticipate that the role will grow in time, will be flexible, and can fit in with other part time work or commitments.
