Thanks to Nestlé Waters UK, up to 3,000 local Buxton residents will be able to visit the new Buxton Crescent Visitor Experience (BCVE) for free this spring/summer. In a ticket giveaway exclusively for the local community, residents will get the opportunity to be some of the first guests to explore and enjoy the new attraction following its reopening after the national lockdown.
As part of their four-year partnership with the BCVE, Nestlé Waters UK will sponsor a limited number of free tickets for those living within the Buxton town boundary line to visit the new interactive attraction.
The Buxton Crescent Visitor Experience is dedicated to celebrating the town’s spa heritage and thermal mineral waters. Following the recent lockdown, the brand-new attraction will reopen on Monday 17 May 2021 and Buxton residents can be among the first to enjoy the new audio-visual attraction, get a look inside nine rooms of the recently transformed Crescent building and give feedback on the new experience by participating in a dedicated survey.
The immersive experience moves through a series of themed rooms, meeting some of the characters along the way who visited Buxton over its thousands of years of rich history. From Roman times when a settlement was built around the warm-water spring, through to its grand and gracious Georgian and Victorian spa seekers who came to bathe in the healing waters – to the present day concluding with a delve into the story of Nestlé Waters’ bottling of BUXTON® Natural Mineral Water.
Grant McKenzie, Managing Director of Nestlé Waters UK said: “We are proud to be partners of the new Buxton Crescent Visitor Experience and are delighted to be helping to tell the story of BUXTON® Natural Mineral Water, its significance in history and why visitors have flocked to the famous spa town for centuries. The Nestlé Waters UK team are very active in Buxton’s vibrant community and we are thrilled to be sponsoring 3,000 tickets for residents to enjoy.”
Jennifer Spencer, Chair of the Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust said: “The Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust is grateful that Nestlé Waters UK have shared and supported our vision of creating an inspiring and sustainable visitor experience for residents and tourists alike. We are delighted to be celebrating our town’s rich spa heritage through the major restoration of the Crescent, which has only been made possible by the collaborative effort of such a strong group of partners.”
Free Residents Tickets for May and June are now available to book online, with tickets for July onwards to be released at a later date. Suitable for families and visitors of all ages, residents can register for a group ticket that will admit up to six household members to join a timed tour. As demand for the first round of sponsored tickets is expected to be high, residents are urged to follow Buxton Crescent Visitor Experience on social media for announcements of further tickets being released.
Several weeks of tests and careful planning to align with Government guidelines have been completed at the BCVE. Face coverings will be required, and tour sizes will be limited to allow for space and cleaning between visits. These measures are under constant review, as BCVE respond to the developing situation and ensure they continue to follow the latest Government advice. None of the safety measures will interrupt the interactive and entertaining experiences visitors can look forward to enjoying at Buxton’s brand-new and world-class water themed visitor attraction.
