Buxton Georgian Festival 2026: A week of History, Creativity and Spectacle

Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust is delighted to unveil the full programme for the Buxton Georgian Festival 2026, returning for its third year from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September. Fresh from receiving the Silver Award for Festival/Event of the Year at the 2026 Visit Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards, this year’s festival offers more ways than ever to experience Buxton’s Georgian and Regency past.
Across seven days, the town’s historic heart will come alive with music, talks, workshops, living history, markets and performance, inviting visitors to step back into Buxton’s fashionable Georgian heyday. Highlights include recorder music of the period, expert talks on architecture and needlework, hands-on millinery and calligraphy workshops, promenade performances, and the vibrant Living History Day with re‑enactors and demonstrations throughout the Crescent.
The festival also features much‑loved social events including the Cavendish Ceilidh, and the spectacular Buxton Regency Ball — now fully booked due to exceptional demand.
Events take place throughout Buxton’s most iconic Georgian spaces, offering audiences the chance to explore the people, fashions, ideas and stories that shaped the town. Many activities are free or low-cost, with some requiring advance booking.
Matthew Howarth, Events Manager at Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, said: “We’ve created a week that offers a real mix of experiences — whether you want to learn something new, hear fascinating stories, enjoy live music and dancing, or simply step back in time. There’s a wonderful sense of anticipation building around this year’s event.”
